2. Remove the leaves from the branches and use the garden shears to cut them into 7-inch pieces. Separate them into six bundles.
3. Take one bundle, form a fan shape with the branches, and place them along a portion of the wreath form. Be careful that the bottom of the branches point inside.
4. Secure the bundle to the wreath frame with floral wire.
5. Now, take the second bundle and secure it right below the first bundle in the similar fashion. Remember to secure it in a way so that it hides the wires of the first bundle.
6. Repeat this process until the entire bundle is covered. Use the extra branches (if you have any) for filling in openings.
7. Make a 6-inch loop of wire and attach it to the frame for hanging.

Christmas Swag Making Directions:

1. Push both sides of the hanger to the center so that it takes an oblong shape. Give the hanger’s hook a circle shape with a pair of pliers to use it as a hanger.
2. Select a piece of fir branch that has a solid center. Pick one that is approximately 18-inch long. A teardrop shape, with a rounded top end and narrow tapered bottom end, will work better. It will be the base of the swag.
3. Add two additional pieces of fir branches of approximately 14-16 inches to fill in the gaps of your base.
4. Similarly, arrange three branches of about 10-12 inches, but the top ends pointing in the opposite way.
5. Attach the branches together by twisting the floral wire around the point where their top ends meet each other.
6. Place the bundle of fir branches on top of the hanger. Secure them by wrapping the wire around the entire hanger.
7. Place layers of Blue Cone Cedar, Oregonia, and Eucalyptus one by one following steps 2, 3, and 4 (three branches to the direction of the base fir branch and three others towards opposite direction) or any way you like. Attach each extra layer to the hanger with floral wire.
8. Add a couple of different sized pinecones, with smaller ones toward the top and larger ones sinking toward the bottom.
9. Add two or three small silver bells in between the pinecones.
10. Make a long-tailed bow with a piece of red-colored ribbon. Attach it near the top end of the swag. Set the tails at the each side of the swag with floral wire pieces.

Different types of greens will provide texture and fragrance while the vibrant red-colored burlap will add accent and make the swag pop.

The rustic beauty of natural wreaths are unmatched, especially a corn husk wreath. Corn husks are not only gorgeous, they are easy to work with. If you love to eat Mexican food and you eat tamales, corn husks are what the tamales are wrapped in. You can get them in your grocery store in the Mexican food aisle or at  your local farmers market. If you live on a farm or know someone who grows corn, simply ask to use the corn husks. When making your wreath, be sure to ask your kids for help. They will be delighted and can even offer some pointers. This wreath doesn’t require many materials but has a lasting impact. You can easily make it by following these instructions.

Materials for Corn Husk Wreath

• Hot Glue Gun & glue sticks
• Straw wreath form
• Scissors
• Corn husks (You can find near tamale ingredients in grocery store or get corn husks here)

Directions

1. If your corn husks are still attached to the corn, remove them. Make sure they tear nicely. If they don’t, cut a straight line at the top of each husk to ensure it lies flat on the wreath form.
2. Apply the hot glue to the top part of one corn husk and attach it to the wreath form.
3. Repeat the process for the other corn husks. Place them on different spots on the wreath for added impact.
4. You can use corn husks of different sizes. Tuck those that stick out with hot glue.
5. Place the corn husks around the wreath form or on the front part. But ensure the visible part is completely covered.
6. Once done, look at your wreath to ensure the form is not showing.
