How to Make a Rustic Wood Slice Wreath (Video)

Wood is a wonderful material that brings a rustic and warm touch to a room and wreaths are a perfect addition to your home. Especially for the colder seasons, this Rustic Wood Slice Wreath can be a fantastic item to display over a winter or fall mantel or to adorn an empty wall. The Rustic Wood Slice Wreath can look stunning when hanging on a door, both inside or outside. If you make some smaller wood slice wreaths with mini wood slices, you can use them as place settings by prettying up your table décor for a special occasion or group them together to hang them on a wall. To do that, consider using a ribbon to tie them together and hang them one beneath the other.

Rustic Wood SliceWreath Making Directions:

  1. Add a drop of glue to a wooden slice and glue the slice onto the wreath form. Continue doing the same with all the wooden slices, until you have a layer of wooden slices glued to the wreath.
  2. To fill the gaps between the wooden slices, you can glue a second layer of slices onto the first layer, making sure to cover any blank spots. Another option is to fill the gaps with some artificial moss.
  3. Add a burlap ribbon or any other embellishments to your wreath. You can make it seasonal by adding ornaments for a Christmas wreath or pumpkins or nuts for a Fall wreath.
  4. Using a piece of twine, ribbon or a hanging hook, hang your wreath at you chosen spot.

To make this Rustic Wood Slice Wreath really is that easy. To make the most out of it, try finding some unique looking slices and experiment a little with different sizes and wood types. Taking it a step further you can try making a heart-shaped cardboard wreath form to make a heart shaped wreath, which would be perfect for a rustic wedding.

Adding different types of decorations can make the wreath suitable for using all year around, even in the summer months, by using some artificial or dried typical summer flowers.

Another great way to make the wreath special is to add letters to the wood slices to create a meaningful word, like a warm welcome. To make the letters, you could burn them in by using a wood burning tool or just paint them on with a sharpie marker. The choice is up to you!
