How to Make a Paper Bag Wreath

1. Make a flat form for the wreath with the cardboard box. Trace the big dinner plate on the box to make a circle and cut that shape out. Now, trace the smaller plate in the middle of that flat form and cut out. You can also use a store-bought form but make it from cardboard as you are recycling.
2. Draw a leaf shape on the piece of paper, which could be about 3, 4, or 5 inches long. Trace the shape on a grocery bag as many times as possible because you have to make a bunch of leaves.
3. Cut the leaves with scissors and fold each one in half lengthwise to make a strong crease. Unfold all of them.
4. Use glue to stick the leaves to the wreath form, covering it entirely. The leaves should follow the curve of the wreath form and their tips should extend slightly past the edge of the form. Remember to place the round end of one leaf below the previously glued leaf.
5. Glue the bottle cap or attach a bent paperclip to the wreath’s backside. It will work as the hanger.
6. Now, give the wreath a light coat of spray paint on the both sides. Use several coats of paint of different colors. It will give the wreath a festive look.

Christmas Swag Making Directions:

1. Push both sides of the hanger to the center so that it takes an oblong shape. Give the hanger’s hook a circle shape with a pair of pliers to use it as a hanger.
2. Select a piece of fir branch that has a solid center. Pick one that is approximately 18-inch long. A teardrop shape, with a rounded top end and narrow tapered bottom end, will work better. It will be the base of the swag.
3. Add two additional pieces of fir branches of approximately 14-16 inches to fill in the gaps of your base.
4. Similarly, arrange three branches of about 10-12 inches, but the top ends pointing in the opposite way.
5. Attach the branches together by twisting the floral wire around the point where their top ends meet each other.
6. Place the bundle of fir branches on top of the hanger. Secure them by wrapping the wire around the entire hanger.
7. Place layers of Blue Cone Cedar, Oregonia, and Eucalyptus one by one following steps 2, 3, and 4 (three branches to the direction of the base fir branch and three others towards opposite direction) or any way you like. Attach each extra layer to the hanger with floral wire.
8. Add a couple of different sized pinecones, with smaller ones toward the top and larger ones sinking toward the bottom.
9. Add two or three small silver bells in between the pinecones.
10. Make a long-tailed bow with a piece of red-colored ribbon. Attach it near the top end of the swag. Set the tails at the each side of the swag with floral wire pieces.

Different types of greens will provide texture and fragrance while the vibrant red-colored burlap will add accent and make the swag pop.

5. If some of the red burlap runs out halfway, secure the second roll with twine and continue from where you left off.

8. Hang your wreath on the door, on the mantel, or on a window.

1. Take a hand full of pine leaves (cut at 6-inch or at a length of your desire) and bundle them together. Lay the bundle slightly diagonally on the wreath form. Then, pull the wire slightly above the cutting ends, and wrap around the bundle and frame a couple of times.
2. Make another bundle with pine leaves and place it overlapping the first. Continue wrapping with the wire.
3. Keep repeating step 2.
4. Now, lay the faux white berries on the pine leaves and attach with either glue or floral wire. Try to spread the berries evenly over every part of the wreath.
5. Add 3 to 4 jingle bells in a sporadic manner on the wreath. Attach them with glue. Choose them in silver color with a little bit of golden glitter to keep the festive mood on.
6. Make a double bow with the silk ribbon and attach it to the wreath with glue.
