You Can Display Your Outdoor Wreaths Inside or Out
Outdoor wreaths are versatile as you can place them anywhere – on doors, windows, walls, and even covered outdoor locations. They look stylish all year round and personalize a home in a way no other thing can. DIY wreaths are beautiful and minimalistic. Here’s how you can make yours.
Boxwood Wreath Materials:
Grapevine wreath or styrofoam wreath with hot glue gun
Boxwood sprigs (real) or Boxwood bush so you can cut length as you’d like
Directions
- Clip off random boxwood pieces using the shears. Ensure they are about 8-10 inches long. Some pieces can be made up of small branches while others may be strands. (If using a styrofoam wreath form you can hot glue small bundles of boxwood sprigs to your form like this video)

- Beginning from the outer edge, insert each boxwood piece between the vines of the wreath. Make sure the clippings are fully inserted to avoid using floral wire or clippings.
- Angle each boxwood piece as you insert it so it bends on the wreath. Follow this routine throughout.
- Work on the outer edge first before moving to the inner circle. Only stop when your grapevine wreath is fully covered in boxwood pieces. If some grapevine is visible, cover it by adding clippings.
- Use scissors to trim any pieces that look out of place.
- Tie the ribbon or burlap to the upper part of the wreath.
- Display your wreath.
Door Wreaths Come in a Variety of Styles
Gone are the days when sprucing up the front door meant painting it a bright hue. These days, you have to do more if you want your home to stand out. If you want an inexpensive update, make a boxwood wreath. The best thing about a natural wreath is that you can display it all year round. To prolong your wreath’s lifespan, spray it with water every few days.
Wreath making seems tedious for most homeowners so they simply buy artificial wreaths. But most DIY wreaths are easy to make and don’t require numerous supplies. This year, don’t buy artificial wreaths that don’t have a big impact. Make your own wreaths and stop traffic.
